Singapore - what an amazing city!!

We arrived in Singapore at 4:00pm Sunday 18 August....breezed through Customs and was met by our limo driver to take us to the hotel.  Carlton City Hotel is just beautiful and only opened 2 weeks prior to our arrival.

Beautiful marble tiled walls everywhere - very decadent - we were so lucky to find a fantastic rate on Expedia for this hotel!!

We had a bit of a giggle when we turned the television on and found this message - we can't seem to get through to them about the mistake - never mind  :-)

After settling in to the hotel we headed to Chinatown to have a look around.  Most of the market stalls were similar and we found that prices weren't really that cheap.  We passed by a couple of restaurants that were well patronised by westerners so we chose the one that advertised "the best chilli crab in Singapore" and "d'best Singpore Sling".  Dennis had the Chilli Crab and I had soft shelled crab with noodles.  The Singapore Sling was certainly different and half the price of Raffles!!

We ventured back to the hotel where we decided to have a drink at the bar before heading up to our room.  They only had one chardonnay available (the house one- $12 glass) and Dennis had a bourbon and coke.  The bourbon was $12 and the mixer was $12!!  Then they add 7% GST and a 10% service charge.  Alcohol is very expensive here and we won't be indulging too much.

Sunday temp was 31 deg; yesterday was 27 deg and today was probably the same....a bit overcast and we had a good shower late morning.  Very humid but so far ok.

We have had two very busy days sightseeing and I will post details of these tomorrow as it is getting late and we have another big day planned tomorrow.  My feet need a good massage!!

Catchya............xx
